Step 1 exam will reflect a change in the number of test items from 336 to 322 on or around May 15, 2010 and will not affect the length of the examination day. In addition, scores of the old and new forms of the test will be comparable. Examinees who are expected to take their Step 1 exam in late May and June can anticipate a scoring delay.
Although the transition will occur quickly at many test centers, there may be some locations where the changes take slightly longer to complete. The overall transition period will likely last approximately 6 weeks.
